-John C. Maxwell's Everyone Communicates and Few Connect can be found on my recommended list because it teaches how to use communication as a way to make connections with people

What is the book about:

Who this book would be good for:
Anyone can benefit from this book. It is excellent communication and relationship-building skill that you will find useful in all aspects of your life.

Favorite part of the book:
One of my favorite parts was in Chapter 2 titled “Connecting Is All About Others”

The part I underlined was this:
I've known many teachers and speakers who possess that self-focused mindset. Every conversation is about them. Every communication is an opportunity for them to demonstrate their brilliance and share their expertise.

Self-centered teachers seem to share a common philosophy:

Ram, it in- jam it in,
Students' heads are hollow.
Cram it in slam it in,
There is more to follow.

Good teachers, leaders, and speakers don't see themselves as experts with passive audiences they need to impress. Nor do they view their interests as most important. Instead, they see themselves as guides and focus on helping others learn. Because they value others, they work at connecting with the people they are teaching or trying to help.

As leaders and teachers and speakers it's so easy to get caught up in our own passions and our own desires and think that is what is best for those that are listening to us speak. And in the end, we missed the whole point. It's about connecting with other people, helping other people, and serving other people. I thought this was very important to remember. I personally have had that experience with teachers and leaders, and I was a leader and the teacher had been guilty of doing this as well.

My rating, 1 is not worth the time to 5 being on my recommended book list and a must-read:

I have read many John C. Maxwell books in the past. Matter of fact the 21 irrefutable laws of leadership was one of the first books I ever read on leadership. Well, I would put this book right there beside that one in my recommended reading list.
